چکیده

To make artificial knee joints have lower long-term wear rate, a new method for reformed design of sagittal femoral condylar geometry based on TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) was proposed. Firstly, according to the development history of sagittal femoral condylar geometry and evolution theory of TRIZ, future state of the evolution line of femoral condylar geometry in sagittal plane was predicted. And then, solving principles of technical conflicts were used to propose improved solution of femoral condylar geometry in sagittal plane. The result obtained shows that reformed femoral condylar geometry can improve motion smoothness, low long-term wear rate and increase survival lifetime of artificial knee joint.

The Influence of Implant Design

Traditional knee replacement designs utilize multiple discrete radii to define the sagittal plane curvature of the femoral component (Fig. 1). This geometry was derived to replicate the function of the natural knee joint. The broader distal radius articulating against a relatively congruent tibial insert provides increased constraint and reduced contact stress in the range of flexion used for h...

Correlation between posterior offset of femoral condyles and sagittal slope of the tibial plateau.

The aim of this study was to address, in normal knees, the variability of posterior offset of femoral condyles and tibial slope, and the presence of any correlation between the two that might be needed to achieve an adequate joint motion in flexion. Magnetic resonance images of normal knees of 80 subjects, 45 males and 35 females, with a mean age of 38.9 years, were analysed. Measurements were ...

Full mouth rehabilitation on a bilateral condylar fractured patient using orthognathic surgery and dental implant

BACKGROUND Mandibular displacement is a common complication of condylar fracture. In the mandibular displacement due to condylar fracture, it is difficult to restore both esthetics and function without using orthognathic surgery. CASE DESCRIPTION This clinical report described a full mouth rehabilitation in the patient with bilateral condylar fractures and displaced mandible using bilateral s...

A Study of Epiphyses in the Young Prepubescent Knee Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging

BACKGROUND Questions have been raised concerning the safety of intra-articular anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction in prepubescent children aged <7 years. However, normal values for the width of the lateral femoral condylar epiphysis and height of the tibial epiphysis have yet to be established through the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). PURPOSE To determine normal values...

The Effect of Sagittal Femoral Bowing on the Femoral Component Position in Total Knee Arthroplasty

Background: In the current study, we investigated that how sagittal femoral bowing can affect the sagittal alignment ofthe femoral component in total knee arthroplasty (TKA).Methods: There were 25 patients underwent TKA. Long leg radiography in lateral view was performed. The sagittalfemoral bowing (SFB) and component alignment in relation to the sagittal mechanical axis and distal anterior cor...
